Dear Quest Admissions,
I am writing this letter of recommendation for a prospective student of Quest, Daniel Rezmer. I have known Daniel for five years, having first met him when I served as a mentor for a youth camp run by the Teen Journey Society, a Vancouver based non-profit. The mission of Teen Journey is to support youth in a journey to their hearts to discover who they are, which is accomplished through a blend of indigenous wisdom and practices that arose from the human potential movement.
As a mentor and family friend, I have seen the trajectory of Daniel’s growth from a shy kid with some good athletic abilities, to a thoughtful, compassionate, insightful and stable young man who exhibits leadership capabilities through his silent strength and ability to articulate his inner truth. Since I have known Daniel, he has had a deep and abiding interest in all our relations, meaning that he shares a sense of kinship with nature and all her animals. I find this to be a hallmark of one who is on a path of wisdom, and I feel that this wisdom is one of the greatest gifts that our youth can cultivate and offer to the world today.
Intellectually, I find that I have been able to engage more deeply with Daniel over the last year. The most remarkable change I witnessed in Daniel came after his most recent trip to India where he spent 10 days studying with thousands of other monks with the Dalai Lama. I have witnessed not a change, but a transformation, whereby Daniel has begun to exhibit the traits of true responsibility. I can see his ability to search within his own mind to discover beliefs that limit him, and a willingness to explore the psychological realms for clues to his own path to greatness and to face his inner obstacles with courage.
I feel that Daniel will be an excellent asset to Quest, for he has begun a journey into the heart of what it means to be human, but more then that, with a keen interest in becoming more of himself. My sense from Quest is that you are looking for students who are able to source their will and curiosity for engaging in learning from within themselves, and bringing their passion and discoveries to be challenged, tested and expanded through a teaching-learning community. From what I have seen in Daniel, he is an excellent match for such an environment, and I sincerely believe that his acceptance to Quest will be a decision for the best.
Sincerely,
Zamir
